On Wednesday, April 25th, Ambassador and Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nation Dr. Riyad Mansour sent identical letters to the United Nations Secretary –General, Ban Ki-moon, and President of the United Nations General Assembly UNGA, Regarding the Israeli illegal settlement outposts.
" Israel, the occupying Power, continues its illegal schemes and actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, " Said Mansour, "Particularly those aimed at entrenching its massive network of illegal settlements and so-called settlement "outposts" in the territory that it has belligerently occupied since 1967."
He also said "The intensified construction of all such Israeli settlement activities on occupied Palestinian land is glaring proof of the unlawful, expansionist aims of the occupying Power and belie all claims regarding acceptance of the two-State solution on the basis of the pre-1967 borders."
Mansour pointed out to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his duplicitous efforts to form a Ministerial committee to study the status of the three settlement outposts of "Bruchin", "Rechlim" and "Sansana" in the northern Occupied West Bank.
In this letter Mansour condemned the Israeli practices and violations; he said "Israel's illegal activities constitute the main obstacle to peace. Therefore, we call on the Security Council to act immediately to address these continuing illegal, grave actions by Israel in the Occupied Territories."
"Israel's illegal settlement campaign in destroying the contiguity, integrity and viability of the Palestinian Territory, and physically destroying the attainability of the two-State solution on the basis of 1967 borders," He added, "It is incumbent upon the international community to uphold the law and salvage of prospects for achieving a just and sustainable peace on the basis of the relevant UN resolutions, the Madrid Principles, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quartet Roadmap."
