PHR Israel warns that long-term hunger strikers will need to be re-fed under strict hospital supervision to avoid life endangering complications

2007-04-08.ipsc.4PNN

On Friday, May 4th, Alan Shatter the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, issued an incendiary and defamatory attack on the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign's (IPSC) right to engage in peaceful campaigning for a cultural boycott of Israel. In his attack, the Minister tried to spuriously link this peaceful Irish human rights group with Al Qaida. In doing so the Minister has abused his position; the IPSC calls upon him to withdraw his attack and believes the Irish Government should immediately and publicly dissociate itself from Minister Shatter's press release.

Physicians for Human Rights-Israel Condemn Supreme Court's Rejection of Petition By Prisoners

btPNN

"The Supreme Court's rejection of court petitions in name of the administrative detainees Diab and Halahlah, each of who are in the their 71st day of hunger strike in protest of their administrative detention, is the effective equivalent of handing down a death sentence. By way of this decision, the judges are tightening their hold on administrative detainees, which, due to the absense of concrete evidence, the inability of the detainee to defend himself in court and the unlimited renewal of his/her detention term, constitutes a full negation of liberties and human freedom.

Statement on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinians on Israel’s Settlement Activities in the Opt

settelment-beiteilPNN

The Bureau of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People is deeply troubled by the recent decision by the Israeli Cabinet to "legalize" three unauthorized settlement outposts in the West Bank: "Sansana," "Rechelim" and "Bruchin." While Israel, the occupying Power, has blatantly supported and engaged in the expansion of illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, these brazen actions, spearheaded by Prime Minister Netanyahu himself, amount to the first official establishment of new settlements in the West Bank in 20 years, according to the Israeli watchdog organization Peace Now. In the meantime, the Israeli Government is also intensifying its efforts to thwart the evacuation of the "Ulpana" outpost ordered by the Supreme Court.
