In Solidarity with Jerusalem: Arab Producers Union calls to Unify Media Discourse

Jerusalem2

The head of Arab Producers Union Dr. Ibrahim Abu Thekri called on all the creative and intellectual Arabs, to unify the media discourse for Jerusalem, and to try and ease the Palestinians' suffering by following up the latest developments of the Palestinian cause, and the Israeli attempts to Judaize Jerusalem.

"Some say that the local issues should be prioritized, and we agree", he said, "But the Israeli enemy is watching in the aftermath of the Arab Spring, and they think that we have marginalized the Palestinian cause and especially the Judaization of Jerusalem. The inhumane violations that they commit against our people in Palestine, Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and The Holy Sepulcher Church, are multiple and diverse issues that we shall tackle soon."

The Union decided that Jerusalem shall be one of the crucial media issues in all Arab countries, and the Arab Spring shall extend to reach it, saying, "Our artists and creative intellectuals all over should prove to the world that Jerusalem is on our agenda. We have never and never will forget it. While we build our countries and regain our dignity and freedoms from the dictatorships, and while we achieve justice for our people; Jerusalem will be a priority on our list of next achievements and interests."

The Union called on all the artists and intellectuals to participate in a protest by all Arab Space Channels that are members of the General Secretariat and the non-members too, on Friday March 2nd 2012, carrying one logo (One country…One Media…For Jerusalem) in an Arab Media initiative to confirm the unified media discourse.

The Union also explained that on Friday March 2nd 2012, there will be a unified transmission by 13 studios that will transmit a live program from: Gaza, Ramallah, Cairo, Khartoum, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Al Shariqa, Amman, Kuwait, Baghdad, Damascus, and Lebanon, joined by a TV and radio station and websites, in coordination with The Red Crescent in Arab countries and a number of civil work associations and Arab news agencies.
