In the BBC programme 'Meet the Author' BBC correspondent spoke to British journalist, broadcaster and author John McCarthy about his new book 'You can't hide the Sun'. The book is about the Palestinian Arab experience in 48, Israel.

McCarthy was previously the longest held hostage in the Lebanon hostage crises. Whilst working for International Press International Television News, he captured in 1986 by Islamic Jihad, he was released five years later.

During the interview, McCarthy speaks about Palestinians in 48 being treated as second class citizens by the authorities in Israel, and pays particular attention to the Palestinian population being prevented from building on or epanding their own land.

The author however touches upon the Palestinian leaving in 1948, when Israel was building a new Jewish state, but is careful not to mention Nakba or the reasons behind fleeing their homes, with no right of return.
