The Central Elections Commission announced today, Wednesday, that the door to voter registration to participate in the 2021 Palestinian elections, both legislative and presidential, will be closed.
In a press release, the commission stated that during the voter registration process that began since the announcement of the presidential decree and until midnight last night, (421,000) male and female citizens were registered, bringing the total number of registrants to 2,622 million citizens, representing 93.3% of the 2,809 holders of the right to register. Million citizens; According to estimates by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
It indicated that these numbers reflect a great turnout for the registration process, which reflects the citizens’ desire to participate in the electoral process, indicating that the registration process was carried out according to the pre-prepared plan, without any significant problems.
The commission thanked all its partners in the electoral process, especially the citizens who interacted with the registration process, the factions, civil society institutions, the media and official institutions, especially the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Official Media, and the Palestinian Federation of the Deaf. Their fixed and mobile crews who worked during the registration period.
The Election Commission stated that, according to the previously announced legal periods, the process of managing and revising registrants’ data will start from this morning, Wednesday, and preparing for the publishing and objection phase that will start on the first of next March and will continue for a period of 3 days.
