The Prisoners and Ex Prisoners Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society on Wednesday evening announced the passing of prisoner Maher Sa’sa’ (45 years) from Qalqilya, in Rimonim Israeli prison.

In a joint statement, the two organizations said that there are no clear details yet about the reasons of his death, and his case will be followed up and the reasons will be examined.

In a video on social media, the prisoner’s daughter said that the family had no specific details about the death circumstances, but mentioned that her father suffered from medical negligence since he had health problems, including hypertension, heart and lung problems, and that his health was lately deteriorating.

“Lately he had Catheterization and he was very ill. They took him to hospital but did not give him enough medical care,” she said.

“Yesterday, we heard that he and 58 other prisoners received the Corona vaccine. What we know is that he got very sick after taking the vaccine, but they left him alone in the hospital room, and in the morning he had passed away. That’s all we know so far,” she added.

Both organizations pointed out that the prisoner had taken the vaccine against Corona virus yesterday, knowing that he was suffering from other diseases and health problems.

Meanwhile, they held the occupation fully responsible for the death of prisoner Sa’sa’, and for the life and fate of all the prisoners in its jails.

Sa’sa’ has been detained since 2006, and he is sentenced to 25 years in prison, married and a father of six children.
