Netanyahu discusses closing the West Bank under the pretext of Corona

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a statement issued by his office, today, is considering closing the West Bank, under the pretext of Corona virus spread.

According to the statement, Netanyahu instructed to consider closing “the crossings to the Palestinian Authority,” and that the Israeli Ministry of Health had warned, during the last month, during the meetings of the Israeli Ministerial Committee to Combat Coronavirus, of the high spread of the virus in the Palestinian territories, and recommended preventing entry to areas of the Authority and imposed Other restrictions, were partially implemented.

“We must reduce the transmission of infection,” Netanyahu said during deliberations on closing the West Bank, which took place today. “The law must be enforced intensely in the red and orange cities in order to prevent prohibited weddings and gatherings,” he said.

On the other hand, Israeli media reported today that it is expected that Israel will open the Taba crossing with the Sinai, and that it may happen next week.

The Yediot Aharonot website said that deliberations are taking place in Israel, with the participation of the Ministry of the Interior, the Population and Immigration Authority, the Ministry of Health and the Airports Authority, to formulate a plan to allow the opening of the Taba crossing, eight months after its closure.

However, due to “Israel” classifying Egypt as a “red country”, the returnees from Sinai will be required to enter a two-week quarantine.
