Gaza : Israeli special force assassinates six Palestinians, including Hamas leader

At least six Palestinians were said killed in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday after heavy fire was exchanged along the Israel-Gaza border including a commander in Hamas’ military wing, according to Palestinian sources .

According medical sources in Gaza Strip 6 Palestinians were killed and 7 others were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation forces targeting Khan Yunis

The shooting began at about 9:30 P.M. Palestinian sources in Gaza said an IOF force was operating inside the Gaza Strip, east of Khan Yunis.

Palestinian sources said that one of the casualties is Nour Barake, a deputy commander of an elite unit of Iz al-Din al-Qassam, the military wing of Hamas. Barake and an additional commander were said to be killed in Khan Younes.

Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas armed wing , said in a brief statement that Israeli special units infiltrated Sunday evening by  a car into Ismail Abu Shanab Mosque area three kilometers in depth of east of Khan Yunis and assassinated Nour Baraka one of  Qassam leader .

Al Qassam Brigades added in its statement :”after the discovery of the Israeli force elements from Al Qassam try to stop and chase them but Israeli warplanes intervention cover the withdrawal of  Israeli special forces on the ground.

The sources explained that the victims of the Israeli new crime were Nour al-Din Muhammad Salama Baraka 37 years old,Mohammed Majed Mousa Al-Qara 23 years, Khalid Mohammed Ali Qweider 29 years, Mustafa Hassan Mohammed Abu Odeh 21 years, Mahmoud Attallah Musabeh 25 years and Alaa Nasrallah Abdullah Fasefis 24 years.

Interior & National Security Spokesman Ministry in Gaza  Iyad al-Bazm said in a press statement that the security and police forces in the sector imposed intensive security measures in all areas east of Khan Younis south of the Gaza Strip.

A spokesman for Hamas, the militant Islamist group which dominates Gaza, described the incident as a “cowardly Israeli attack”.

Hamas issued a statement, saying, “We welcome the brave resistance that is facing the cowardly Israeli attack. The resistance’s activity is an act of heroism, which emphasizes it is alert, prepared, and is carrying out its national duty by defending our nation and forces the enemy to pay for its crimes.”

IOF confirmed that there had been an exchange of fire “during operational activity” and said all its soldiers were now back in Israel.

Rocket-warning sirens were later sounded in southern Israel.

Several rockets fired from Gaza were shot down and at least one landed in a field in Israel, local officials said.

Iseaeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut short a visit to Paris and was returning to Israel after intense fighting broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip and a string of rocket sirens wailed across southern Israel.
