The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate on Tuesday said there was a clear increase in direct targeting of Palestinian journalists, specifically with live and metal bullets, as well as teargas grenades targeted directly at journalists’ bodies.
The syndicate pointed out in its monthly report that there were 93 violations against journalists in September, including 78 violations committed by the Israeli occupation, and 15 violations by Palestinian factions, most of them in the Gaza Strip on the background of publications prior to the speech of President Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations,
The report said 11 live bullets were targeted at journalists, who were taken to hospitals.
Meanwhile, 10 journalists were shot with metal and plastic bullets. Israeli soldiers also severely obstruct the work of journalists by deliberately stunt grenades towards the journalists, causing critical injuries.
The violations also included preventing and detaining crews from covering the news, in addition to arrests, unfair trials, beatings and summons.
