Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are set to take part in the “Great March of Return” in protest of the US moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The marches coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba (exodus), AKA the Israeli independence day.
More than 100,000 Palestinians are expected to take part in the marches, and intense clashes are expected to take place.
In addition, the Israeli army announced its readiness to target peaceful demonstrators and spread its snipers on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
To its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza declared a state of emergency, and set up a number of field hospitals and medical tents to receive the wounded.
The US embassy opening ceremony will take place today in the presence of a high-level US delegation despite international criticism.
