Trump will not attend US embassy opening in Jerusalem, says White House

US President Donald Trump will not travel to Israel for the opening of the new US  embassy in Jerusalem on the 70th Israeli independence day (AKA Palestinian Nakba), the White House said on Monday.

Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband, senior White House aide Jared Kushner, will also be part of the  US presidential delegation, along with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The delegation will be lead by Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan will lead the delegation.

In December, Trump declared Jerusalem as  the capital of Israel in a controversial move which sparked international criticism and wide Palestinian protests, since the city is  known as the eternal capital of Palestine.
