MOFA: Silence on mass evictions in Khan Al-Ahmar encourages  Judaization of area “C”

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli Supreme Court of Justice’s decision to expel the residents of the Bedouin community of Khan Al-Ahmar, East of Occupied Jerusalem; which gives the Israeli army the green light to carry out mass evictions of the community, including home demolitions and the demolition of the only school in area.

This funded school used to serve 170 students, which reaffirms that the so-called judicial system in Israel is an integral part of the colonial system.

The Ministry in a statement affirmed that the forcible displacement of the Palestinian Bedouins is a part of a larger colonial plan aimed at expanding and deepening the settlements in the wholeheartedness to the shores of the Dead Sea, in addition to the mass home demolitions in area(C), in an attempt to exterminate the Palestinian presence in area (c) and Judaize the area.

“This is confirmed by the data published by UN organizations and human rights organizations, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), these reports address the fact that the Israeli authorities theoretically allocate, less than 1% of the area of the Occupied Palestinian Territory (C) to Palestinian expansion and development,” statement said.

“The international silence on this heinous crime, and the silence towards the existing racial discrimination that leads to the expulsion and displacement of Palestinian citizens from their land to be replaced with Israeli settlers; it encourages the Israeli government to close the case of the Khan Al- Ahmar, whose inhabitants fought a long and fierce battleagainst the occupation and its repressive measures,” statement added.

“The Ministry confirms that the blind American bias towards the Israeli occupation, its policies and crimes has encouraged Israel to continue violating international law and UN resolutions,” it said.

The Ministry concluded by saying that it is following the developments in the case of Khan Al-Ahmar; and continues to contact the specialized international authorities and countries through various channels in order to expose this terrible crime and to demand the international community to take up its legal and moral responsibilities towards this community and other targeted Palestinian communities, and demand pressure on the occupation government to force it to revoke its colonial expansionist decision.
