Islamic Jihad senior leader Khaled al-Batash accused Mossad of being behind the assassination in an interview on the television network, Al-Miyadin, demanding that “Malaysian authorities conduct a comprehensive and rapid investigation to prevent the escape of the assassins.”
Fadi al-Batash, 35 a Palestinian engineer from Gaza was killed Saturday morning in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur when leaving a mosque after morning prayers, reported Palestinian news websites.
According to Palestinian news websites, Fadi al-Batash, 35, was ambushed when he left the mosque and shot at close range.
Palestinian sources in Malaysia quoted the police chief as saying that two unidentified motorcyclists committed the murder and shot more than 10 bullets at Batash.
According to the news agency SPA, which is affiliated with Hamas, Batash, a former resident of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, worked in Malaysia in the past years as a lecturer at a private university and was the imam of a mosque in the city.
Batash also involved with Islamic organizations, including MyCARE.
It was also reported that Batash was involved in energy field work and was a revered engineer in electrical engineering and energy production. Batash is married and has three children.
