Abbas calls for urgent meeting following Israel’s removal of metal installations

Ramallah/PNN

President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an urgent meeting on Thursday for the Palestinian leadership to discuss the crisis at Al-Aqsa Mosque in light of reports that Israel removed all metal installation it had placed outside and inside the compound gates.

Abbas froze all contacts with Israel last friday, including security coordination, until Israel removed all its installation and returned the situation at the holy place to the way it was before July 14, when Israel closed the mosque and installed metal detectors rejected by all Palestinians.

According to WAFA, The Palestinian leadership is coordinating its steps with the Muslim Waqf in Jerusalem, which is expected to report on the recent developments at the mosque before a final decision is made on whether or not to resume prayers inside the holy compound
