Gaza Energy: Occupation begins reducing electricity provided to Gaza

Gaza/ PNN/

The Israeli occupation authorities on Monday morning have reduced 8 megawatts of the electricity capacity feeding Gaza from Israeli lines: an initial step to implement the recently announced decisions to gradually reduce power provided to Gaza.

The Energy Authority in Gaza said that the decisions were made at the request of the Palestinian government in Ramallah, adding that it will have serious implications for the living situation in the Strip which already suffers from severe shortage and major power deficit.

The Energy Authority deplored this step of reducing power provided to Gaza saying it was a “dangerous step,” adding that the occupation and the parties responsible for this action must take full responsibility for the serious consequences of this decision.

A few days ago, UN experts warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating to unprecedented levels as new reductions in the already extremely limited power supply have been announced.
