The Media Committee of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ society, present the summary of the fifteenth day of the “Freedom and Dignity strike”, which was started since 17th April, 2017
For the fifteenth day, Palestinian detainees continue the open hunger strike, which was launched on April 17, 2017 to achieve their basic rights, from which they are deprived and which they have achieved previously through hunger strikes. Their demands are represented in ending the policy of administrative detention, ending the solitary confinement, medical treatment for sick detainees, the prevention of lawyer and family visits and other legitimate demands.
The prisons’ administration has started to transfer striking detainees among prisons. A case in point, sending the striking detainees Bilal Ajarmeh and Haitham Hamdan form Ashkelon prison to the solitary confinement of Eshil prison, as well as transferring Naser Abu-hmaid, Anas Jaradat and Muhammad Khaldi from the solitary confinement of Ayalon to the solitary confinement of Nitzan. Moreover, the prisons’ administration has transferred the striking detainee Muhammad Abbas from the solitary confinement of Nitzan to Jilboa prison, and transferred Maslama Thabet and Amad Wredat from the solitary confinement of Nitzan to unknown place.
The Israeli Central Court at Haifa rejected the petition filed by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs (CDA) on the behalf of the detainee Kareem Younis to allow lawyers’ visits for him.
The death of the mother of the striking detainee Muhammad Dalaysha this morning.
Activists from the West Bank city of Jenin, Shadi al-Darbi and Salah Abu al-jahim, who conducted a hunger strike in solidarity with the striking detainees, were taken to the Martyr Khalil Suliman Hospital in Jenin.
