Israeli minister of Education, Naftali Bennett

List of inflammatory comments and incitement by Israeli officials in April

PNN/ Ramallah/
PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi:

“The real incitement stems from Israel’s military occupation of Palestine and its enslavement of an entire nation.  The Israeli hardline extremist government led by Benjamin Netanyahu is responsible for generating a culture of hate and racism in Israel, inciting violence and feeding extremism.  Updated regularly, this report includes samples of recent derogatory and inflammatory comments and incitement by Israeli government officials specifically meant to distort reality and mislead public opinion.”

Education Minister and Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett: “There was a historic opportunity to take the establishment of a Palestinian state off the agenda. We can’t expect Trump to give up the idea of Palestinian statehood if we’re continuing with the mantra of a Palestinian state.” (Link to Source)

Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel: “Now we are at a low point. I can’t go onto the Temple Mount, even though I am a minister for the State of Israel. We are talking about sovereignty in Ma’aleh Adumim; why shouldn’t we fully execute sovereignty on the Temple Mount?” (Link to Source)

“I expect our prime minister to tell the US we’re building. The Saudis aren’t asking them where to build. No country asks the US where to build, certainly not in its capital, definitely not in Jerusalem.” (Link to Source)

Housing and Construction Minister Yoav Galant: “We will build 10,000 [settlement] units in Jerusalem and some 15,000 within the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem. It will happen.” (Link to Source)

“The State of Israel should outline the settlement of the Negev from the point of view of preventing the Bedouins from taking over the Negev and the infiltration of Palestinians from the South Hebron Hills into the region. The settlement of the Arad Valley and the southern Hebron hills must be under the full control of the State of Israel in order to ensure its sovereignty.” (Link to Source)

Minister of Public Security, Strategic Affairs and Minister of Information Gilad Erdan: “The struggle for sovereignty in Jerusalem did not end with the liberation of the city. The Palestinian Authority is trying time after time to undermine the sovereignty of Israel in Jerusalem and we will continue to fight for it in all parts of the city.” (Link to Source)

Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan: “There will not be a freeze. Building in Judea and Samaria will occur within the parameters set by the cabinet, but this is still a complete change from what happened during Obama’s term.” (Link to Source)

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely: “We need to talk about the fact that the settlement enterprise is here forever. We cannot talk about withdrawals. Fortunately, in the past 8 years with all its difficulties there was still no withdrawal program on the table. At the moment, the settlement enterprise needs to advance and become accepted as a legitimate legal tool. This is the land of the Jewish people and it was not stolen suddenly, and fortunately we are starting to hear a different tune in places like Britain and the US, that the settlements are not an obstacle to peace and are not the main problem in the Middle East.” (Link to Source)

“At the end of the day, we need to encourage a reality in which Israel is a sovereign entity controlling its own land, and in which Judea and Samaria are under Israeli sovereignty.” (Link to Source)

“Mayor” of Jerusalem Nir Barkat: “Jerusalem is the crown jewel. It will always stay the united, undivided capital of the Jewish people with respect to all religions. The prayer of all Jews, for thousands of years, is to return to the city of God, the holy city of Jerusalem.” (Link to Source)

Israeli Ambassador to Colombia Marco Sermoneta: “When the Palestinians say “70 years of occupation” what they really mean is that they reject Israel’s right to exist in any borders.” (Link to Source)
