The Media Committee of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ society, hereby present the summary of the twelfth day of the “Freedom and Dignity strike”, which is conducted by the prisoners’ movement in the Israeli jails.
-For the twelfth day, popular marches prevailed all over the country after Friday prayers, in support of the battle of freedom and dignity in the Israeli jails, which was launched by Palestinian detainees on April 17,2017 to achieve their basic rights, from which they are deprived and which they have achieved previously through hunger strikes. Their demands are represented in ending the policy of administrative detention, solitary confinement and the prevention of lawyer and family visits and other legitimate demands.
-The prisons’ repressive forces called “Drour” stormed the cells of striking detainees at the isolation of “Ayalon\ Ramlah prison”. Detainees there have announced their strike and abstained from drinking water before two days. Many detainees who were recently transferred to the isolation were identified, including: Naser Ewias, Zeyad Zahran, Wajdi Judeh, Muhammad Khaldi, Naser Abu-hmaid, William Rimawi and Kameel Abu-hniash.
-1200 detainees at Ofer prison performed Friday prayers wearing the brown uniform of the Prison Service, and return their meals in support of the striking detainees.
-The Supreme Court of the occupation sets a date for the hearing of the petition related to allowing the lawyers to visit the striking detainees. It will be on Wednesday, 3rd of May.
-The administration of Prisons continues the process of transferring the striking detainees, in addition to the intensified storming to break their will.
-The National Committee for supporting the strike announced in statement about the central events and activities in support of the strike. The events continue in all governorates of the West Bank tomorrow corresponding 29th April, 2017. They also call for all categories of the Palestinian people to go to the strike tents in all governorates at 11:00 am.
