Friday, 11 November 2016, will mark the 12th memory of the death of the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat, AKA Abu Ammar.

Employees and students of governmental organizations were out of work and schools at 11 to begin an event in Ramallah, where thousands of Palestinians gathered to revive the memory.

The ceremony, which was launched from the presidential palace in Ramallah, with Palestinian citizens, the PA president Mahmoud Abbas, PM Rami Hamdallah, and PLO executive committee members and Palestinian leaders, in addition to leftist leaders from the PFLP movement and the Palestinian politicians living in Israel.

Mahmoud Abbas, addressing the assassination of Arafat, said:
“We will keep investigating until we find out who were the killers of Abu Ammar. I personally know who they are but my testimony is not enough.

Abbas added that the PLO is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people on an Arab and international level.

Secretary General assistant to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Qais Abdel Karim, said in his word that Arafat isd present in every move for the Palestinians, and that he is the mountain that is never moved by the wind.

Abdel-Karim also stressed the need to end the Palestinian division, since it “weakened us against the occupation and weakened our ability to obtain our rights.”

To his part, Palestinian MK in the joint Arab list, Ayman Odeh said in his word that Palestinians living under the occupation in the 1948 lands are the ones who stayed in their homeland despite the Nakba and the displacement policies, and that Israel wants to create a new identity called “Arab-Israeli” which is a wrong term for the Arabs, who Israel is also trying to erase their history as Palestinians.
