Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), including policemen and soldiers, on Tuesday night have assaulted a group of Palestinian football players when they were leaving a playground for Burj Alluqluq Social Center Society in Jerusalem’s old city.
Head of the society, Montaser Dkeidek, wrote on his Facebook page that IOF have “mercilessly” assaulted the players while on their way out of a football training, even though they were wearing their uniforms.
The soldiers assaulted the players so violently with their batons and the tips of their guns, that three of them had to be taken to the hospital.
The players were identified as Awni Saeeda, Ahmad Al-Halawani, Mohammad Saeeda, Ahmad Salayma, Yahia Farrah, Ihab Tabiya.
According to locals, Al-Halawani sustained wounds in the kidney since he threw up blood.
This is not the first time Palestinians sports players are assaulted by IOF.
Last week, forces attacked the stadium of Martyr Faisal Al-Husseini in Jerusalem, leading to four cases of teargas inhalation.
In addition, Durnig the Olympic Games, Israeli authorities prevented the head of the Palestinian Olympic team from leaving the Gaza Strip to be with his team in Brazil. The Palestinian team that took part in the Games had to buy equipment and other things in Brazil after Israel had prevented entry of their equipment into the Palestinian areas
