Scores of Palestinian citizens and foreign activists on Friday afternoon suffered injuries when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violently attacked two peaceful marches protesting Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank towns of Kafr Qaddum and Bil’in.

According to local sources, Violent clashes broke out in Kafr Qaddum town, east of Qalqilya, after Israeli soldiers stormed the town and attacked the participants in the weekly march.

The soldiers showered the marchers with volleys of tear gas and stun grenades, amid gunfire. An Israeli military vehicle also sprayed skunk water at the protestors and nearby homes.

During the events, the town faced a major power failure for several hours after an electrical transformer exploded when it was deliberately doused with skunk water.

The soldiers also intentionally fired tear gas grenades at journalists wearing press vests and injured some of them. Kafr Qaddum residents and foreign activists organize every week marches to protest Israel’s closure of a main road for 13 years.

In Ramallah, the IOF also suppressed the anti-wall march in Bil’in town and clashed with the participants. The participants carried Palestinian flags and pictures of hunger-striking prisoner Bilal Kayed as well as banners demanding his immediate release along with other hunger strikers.
