Israel returns body of Anwar Salaymeh, killed on Wednesday

A Palestinian man,  Anwar Salaymeh (22) was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Wendesday morning under an alleged car-ramming attempt north of Jerusalem.

Two others were in the vehicle with Anwar. Fares Al-Rishq (20) was critically wounded and Mohammad Nassar (20) was arrested and taken to investigation following the shooting.

The Israeli army said in a statement that one of the border guards “felt in danger” when the driver of the car began to speed near the checkpoint, then immediately opened fire.

Since October 2015, over 200 Palestinians have been killed by IOF and some 30 Israelis, including soldiers, were killed in attacks or mistaken Israeli fire.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, nearly 17,000 people have been wounded in the violence, some 6,000 by live or rubber-coated steel bullets.
