Israel making efforts to prevent Palestine from joining Interpol

PNN/ Jerusalem/

Israeli media on Thursday morning said that Israel is making efforts to prevent Palestine from joining the international police organization, Interpol, who is meant to make a decision next week whether Palestine can join or not.

The PA has been trying to join international organizations in order to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and injustices against Palestinians.

Palestine’s joining the organization will let the PA act against Israel, and so, Israel is using diplomatic channels in an attempt to prevent Intepol from accepting the PA’s request.

Israeli media said that even though this step might only be symbolic, it will potentially hold some Israelis accountable for crime, not only political or military crimes, but also economic.

If Palestine becomes a member as well, Interpol will be obliged to take Palestinian complaints and offer help.
