Japan condemns Israeli expropriation of Palestinian land

The Government of Japan on Thursday has condemned the Israeli government announcing its expropriation of nearly 2.3 square kilometers of land south of Jericho in the West Bank.

An official statement from the Japanese Foreign Press Secretary, Yasuhisa Kawamura, read that the announcement “clearly contradicts the ongoing efforts by the international community toward a two-state solution.”

The statement strongly called upon the Israeli government to refrain from any unilateral act including settlement activity that does not contribute to resuming peace talks and to desist from implementing the above- mentioned announcement.

It also strongly urged “both sides” to act for enhancing mutual trust as well as to continue to make steady efforts for peace.
