The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA” on Sunday condemned shutting down “Palestine today” and “Trans-Media” for media services offices by the Israeli Occupation forces, after raiding their offices in Al-Bireh city on 11 March 2016 at dawn, after confiscating their properties and arresting the office manager of “Palestine Today” Farouq Elyyan and two of its employees (Mohammad Amr and Shbeib Shbeib).

This new attack on the Palestinian media comes after the decision of the Israeli prime minister on Tuesday to shut down Palestinian media outlets alleging “incitement”, these violations also were seen in an Israeli systematic framework that targets Palestinian journalists, and media outlets, since the start of the popular rising since last October 2015.

MADA in a previous statement on 9 March 2016 warned of the seriousness of Netanyahu’s decision to shut down media outlets due to its repercussions and consequences on freedom of expression and media, and Palestinians journalists, thus, MADA demand the international society to put an immediate pressure on the Israeli government to withdraw and reverse its decision and to immediately re-open all media institutions which were shut down today and last October, and to return all its confiscated properties and belongings and the release of all detained journalists.
