On Saturday morning, the Israeli occupation forces shot dead a Palestinian man near the Israeli Municipality building in Jerusalem for allegedly trying to stab an Israeli policeman, the Israeli media said.
Israeli sources claimed that the young man took out a knife in his possession and tried to stab an Israeli policeman.
The Israeli Police shot and killed him. No Israelis were injured at the scene.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health still did not identified him.
Two Palestinians were shot dead after stabbing and killing one settler and wounding another outside of the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City on this last Wednesday. A third settler was killed when Israeli occupation forces opened fire at the Palestinians.
On Christmas Eve, four Palestinians were killed by the IOF fire in different occasions: Wisam abu Ghwaila, 22, from Qalandiya, Eiad Jamal Issa Ideis, 25, from Hebron-district city of Yatta, Muhammad Zahran Abdul-Halim Zahran, 22, from Salfit-district village of Kafr Ad Dik and Belal Zayed, 23, also from Qalandiya.
On Christmas Day, twenty-two-year-old Hani Rafiq Wahdan was shot in the head and killed during weekly Friday demonstrations in the Gaza Strip, and on the evening, Mahdia Hammad was shot dead after Israeli soldiers said she attempted to run her vehicle into a group of Israeli soldiers in Silwad, near Ramallah.
Since the beginning of October, the Israeli authorities have launched an ongoing crackdown in response to the situation on the ground, promoting a “shoot-to-kill” policy against Palestinians as well as a series of harsh measures throughout the occupied territories that rights groups have termed as collective punishment.
