A Palestinian man was shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces near Damascus Gate in occupied East Jerusalem on Thursday evening after allegedly stabbing an Israeli police officer.
The Palestinian man was identified as Izz al-Din Raddad, 21-year-old, from Tulkarem.
Eyewitnesses said that hundreds of settlers gathered at the shooting scene, while police denied Palestinians’ access for a period of time.
Israeli police imposed a tight closure on al-Masrara area, while inspecting passersby and surrounding buildings, and shutting down the entrances to the Old City.
Earlier Thursday, another Palestinian was shot dead after opening fire on Israeli soldiers stationed at the Hizma military checkpoint north of Jerusalem, injuring two Israelis.
He was identified as Mazin Hasan Ureiba from Abu Dis. He was an officer in the Palestinian Authority general intelligence service and a father of four.
Yesterday alone four Palestinian men were killed by the Israeli occupation forces.
