Ashrawi meets with Slovenian Representative Jurij Rifelj

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi met with Slovenian Representative Jurij Rifelj at the PLO Headquarters in Ramallah, on Wednesday.

Both parties reviewed relations between Palestine and Slovenia, and Dr. Ashrawi thanked Slovenia for its support of Palestine at the United Nations, as well as its firm commitment towards a just a peace.

Dr. Ashrawi briefed Mr. Rifelj on the alarming escalation of Israeli violations, including Israel’s summary executions, its demolition of Palestinian homes and the expansion of its illegal settlement enterprise in and around Jerusalem.

She also commended the European Commission’s latest decision to label goods and products from illegal settlements and said, “We appreciate this positive move, and it is our hope that the European Union will develop this labeling into a total boycott of all settlements and settlers, including Israeli officials who live in settlements.”

The meeting also focused on current regional developments, in particular the issue of refugees and the latest wave of terrorism. Both Dr. Ashrawi and Mr. Rifelj agreed that any political solution must be based on a firm commitment to ending the occupation of Palestine and eradicating the injustice suffered by the Palestinians.

Both parties also discussed continued cooperation and enhanced consultations on issues of mutual interest.
