Two fishermen were reported injured off the northern Gaza coast, on Monday. They were attacked by Israeli military as they deviated from the area designated for fishing, locals say.
An Israeli army spokesman told Ma’an News that the Israeli forces opened fire in the air as a warning to the fishermen, and that no injuries were reported.
Local witnesses say that the two fishermen sustained moderate injuries, opposed to what the IOF has told the media.
Since the cease-fire agreement on Gaza was signed on August 26, there has been numerous attacks on Palestinian fishermen and farmers in the Gaza strip.
A minimum of three fishermen have been shot dead by the IOF since last September, writes Ma’an.
