The Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) on Tuesday claimed that an imprisoned member of Hamas’s armed wing, Al-Qassam brigades, revealed Hamas plans to build underground tunnels in besieged Gaza.

Shin Bet claimed that Ibrahim Sha’er (21) who was arrested in July,  on his way to “Israel,” gave up new information about the Hamas tunnel program in Rafah,  in addition to planned attacks during “conflicts.”

“Shaer confessed to have been fully involved in the planning of the ‘continued terror tunnel network’ in the Gaza Strip over recent months,” the IOF said.

According to the IOF, Sha’er elaborated on Hamas’ tunnels in the Rafah area, including information about the organized resistance against the Israeli assault on Gaza last summer.

“During Operation Protective Edge, Sha’er was a part of the logistics department of Hamas, and assisted in transporting military equipment and IEDs to Hamas operatives.”

Furthermore, Sha’er allegedly said that Iran provides Hamas with military support, funds, weaponry and electronic equipment such as frequency disruption devices used in order to shoot down Israeli UAVs.
