On Friday morning , extremist Israeli settlers have torched two homes in Duma village near Nablus, killing an 18-month-old baby, Ali Dawabsheh, and severely wounding his family.

According to medics in Nablus’ Rafidia hospital, the infant’s mother, father and 4-year-old sibling suffered third degree burns on up to 75% of their bodies.

Official for the settlement files in North West Bank, Ghassan Daghlas assured that about four settlers from Yahi and Wesh Kodash settlements attacked the homes of the victims, Sa’ad and Ma’moun Dawabsheh, which are located a few meters away from the illegal settlement.

Civil defense forces from Burin and Balata villages rushed to the scene to put out the fire. However, the baby did not survive the fire.

The act was carried out using burning bottles and inflammatory substances. In addition, the settlers sprayed racist slogans on the walls in Hebrew, such as ” ‘long live Messiah’t,” and “the revenge of Yahi” right before they fled the scene.

According to Al-Jazeera, the Israeli occupation army said that they were trying to locate the suspects of the attack,

Al-Jazeera added that Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner stated: “This attack against civilians is nothing short of a barbaric act of terrorism. A comprehensive investigation is underway in order to find the terrorists and bring them to justice.”

Nabil Abu Rdeineh, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said the Israeli government was fully responsible for the crime as it continued to support illegal Israeli settlement activities and the protection of settlers.

He also blamed the international community for silence over crimes against Palestinians.
