Israeli far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel will build a 30 KM fence along part of the border with Jordan, on Monday before a meeting with the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
The new fence will run from the border east of Eilat to the Timna airport, and will be built on Israeli-occupied land.
“This is an important part of our national security,” Netanyahu said.
He added that the Security Cabinet authorized on Sunday the fence’s construction and funding.
There are currently fences between Israel and Sinai, and in the north, between Israel and Syria.
