Israeli forces clash with Palestinian protestors in Jerusalem over Zionist Light Festival

PNN / Jerusalem /

The Israeli police Wednesday attacked hundreds of Palestinians using stun grenades to disperse their protest against the Israeli light festival at the Old City of Jerusalem.

The police forces told JPost that four men were arrested and others pushed to the ground during the scuffles.

The light festival is an annual event organized by the Jerusalem municipality where thousands take part in the artistic and cultural events including dancing and singing, in addition to inviting internationals to Jerusalem for days, showing them an Israeli festival which covers up Palestinian suffering.

Palestinian youths organized a counter event at the Damascus Gate in the Old City where they held activities for children and step-dance performances. They resist the official light festival because of the Zionist identity it enforces on the Old City, obliterating its Arab and Palestinian origins.
