Knesset holds emergency meeting as international boycott gains ground

The Knesset is expected to convene an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss Israel’s position on an international level against the backdrop of growing calls for an international boycott of Israel.

The decision to hold the discussion was made by members of the Knesset, Michael Oren from ‘All of Us’, Michal Rozen from ‘Meretz’, and Nahman Shay from ‘the Zionist Camp’.

The boycott against the Israeli occupation continues to gain strength, as student councils in Britain joined yesterday.

Britain’s National Union of Students (NUS) on Tuesday passed the motion by a vote of 19-14, with one abstention, to boycott Israeli and align with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, reported the Jerusalem Post.

Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon downplayed the significance of NUS’s move, saying that: “instead of voicing hatred toward Israel it would be better for British students to study a little history and understand that the distance is not that great between verbal hatred and stereotypes and horrible crimes”.
